Basic Requirements

All positions available at 180 Degrees Solar are remote, virtual sales roles, that may require occasional travel on an as needed basis. Most work will be conducted remotely, but having access to transportation may be important. It is crucial to your success to have a reliable internet connection, a smartphone with nationwide talk/text/data plan from a reputable provider, and a computer or tablet that is portable. 

Qualifications

  •  Reps selling in territories that require a HIS or sales license, must obtain appropriate licensing or have application pending  
  • Proven track record of sales and/or lead generation experience preferred  
  • Must have home internet broadband access; 35 kbps bandwidth per workstation, a smartphone, and access to a computer or tablet in order to perform job requirements  
  • Must be able to spend a significant amount of work time traveling and prospecting within your local market, although the time spent travelling will be far less as we continue to optimize our virtual selling model and provide flexibility to our consultants  
  • Must be available and willing to occasionally work nights, at least one weekend day per week, and some holidays  
  • Ability to communicate across departments and partner cross-functionally to address customer needs  
  • Ability to drive a vehicle during the normal course of business  
  • Must maintain a clean driving record with minimal driving infractions   
  • Must be 18 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license

Responsibilities

  • Our Solar Sales Rep is a combination of both virtual and in-home sales, with occasional travel required in your market and to a local office as needed  
  • Meet minimum required sales targets as set by the Regional Sales Leader 
  • Source and develop self-generated leads and appointments with potential new customers via referrals from existing customers, working your pipeline, leveraging your social media accounts to promote brand awareness and marketing the company (content provided), fostering Solar Ambassadors in target neighborhoods, virtual knocking using reverse phone look-up technology, forming partnerships with local business owners (usually home improvement-type businesses) who allow you generate leads outside their place of business, setting up booths at local events in your area such as farmers markets, marathons and other races, reaching out to realtors and developers to get potential leads and grow your business, setting up vendor booths at wildlife expos and other local events and festivals, etc.  
  • Develop effective self-generation sales strategies [see ideas above]  
  • Conduct virtual [via phone or computer] sales presentations for potential customers  
  • Conduct in-home sales presentations for potential customers  
  • Evaluate customers’ knowledge and needs by establishing rapport and building productive, long-lasting relationships  
  • Accurately disposition and report on appointment outcomes via our CRM   
  • Ensure a clean transition post-sale to our project operations team by uploading complete customer information, sale details, and required documentation to our Project Ops Platform  
  • Provide an industry leading customer experience from initial interaction with a customer through installation and well after the customer's system is turned on, in order to build strong relationships and referral pipelines  
  • Manage your pipeline of activity from prospecting to installation by following up with all leads, all virtual consultations, and all in-home consultations on a regular basis to update customers on the status of their project  
  • Properly prepare for appointments by building proposals, preparing for objections, and calling customers to confirm appointments prior to the day of the appointment and texting them reminders the morning of  
  • Attend required trainings, and follow 180° Solar sales protocols  
  • Maintain current knowledge of the latest 180° Solar and industry developments by attending regular company meetings, sales events, trainings, expositions, and industry events  
  • Engage in local proactive lead generation activities by finding creative ways to get involved in your community  
  • This position traditionally involves traveling to and from customer locations, but some customer interactions will be primarily virtual  
  • May stand for an extended period of time while consulting with customers or hosting install events at a customer’s home  
  • The role is evolving and will involve less time in the car and more time at home, working remotely in a virtual environment  
  • This position is full time and driving is a required part of this role. 
  • This role is ever evolving as we are always trying to improve upon our business practices, so we encourage your thoughts and feedback on all things 180° Solar!  
  • Stay up to date on industry news, new technology, policy changes, legislature, and be able to answer customer’s questions regarding such matters
